This session, delivered by Professor David Clutterbuck, Dr Lise Lewis and Craig Mackenzie will engage those attending in a dialogue exploring the increase in team working and how effectively team coaching responds to the increasing level of complexity in which teams operate. The challenges that teams face mean that the role of a team coach is also more complex than that of an individual coach. Hence, there is also a greater need for supervision to help the team coach reflect on and manage this complexity.
Questions to be reflected upon include:
- How does team coaching contribute to encouraging a team mindset?
- How easy is the transition from coach to team coach?
- What is the role of supervision in supporting team coaches?
The takeaways from this session are:
1. Describe the relevance of team coaching
2. Recognise the differences between coaching individuals and teams
3. Identify how supervision supports the complexity occurring in team coaching
